News & Awards

August 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we have had to take the decision to cancel our proposed October production.

There are a number of reasons for this, some logistical and some beyond our control which have slightly forced our hand and we feel that we would not be able to do justice to a production at this time.

Having said that, Christmas Cabaret is very definitely on and we are going full steam ahead to come back with a bang with an 80’s themed extravaganza!

The last 18 months has proved challenging (to say the least!) for us all but we plan to present a full programme in 2022 and look forward to welcoming you all back.

The 2019 CDS production of 'Stepping Out' won a NODA Drama Accolade of Excellence award that was to be presented by NODA in April 2020 at the Guildford Theatre. This was a brave an innovative step for CDS in conjunction with ‘Dance With Emily’. Dancers who hadn’t acted and actors who hadn’t danced merged to stage this wonderful production in the Queen’s Hall, Cuckfield. Co-directed by Sophie Bradshaw and Hariett Sheldon.

The 2017 CDS production of Bridge to Farce (written in Cuckfield by Richard Willis and Paul Ruse and directed by Sophie Bradshaw) won 2 NODA Excellence awards in 2018. Originally a one-act play written for our February Frolics, the full length version went on to play at the Queen’s Hall in Cuckfield as well as at Hurstpierpoint and in August 2018 at the Capitol Theatre in Horsham!
